Myofascial release and craniosacral therapy, explained
A simple explanation of two hands-on techniques — myofascial release and craniosacral therapy — and how they can be part of a physical therapy program.
Myofascial release
Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds and connects muscles. Myofascial release is a hands-on technique in which the therapist applies sustained, gentle pressure and stretch to areas that feel tight or restricted.
Craniosacral therapy
Craniosacral therapy uses very light touch, usually around the head, spine, and pelvis. Sessions are typically quiet and gentle, and patients remain clothed.
How they fit into a program
At Back on Track, these techniques are offered as part of a personalized physical therapy program that uses both traditional and alternative approaches, alongside options such as massage, zero balancing, and individualized exercise.
Every person responds differently. Your therapist can explain whether these techniques are a good fit for you.
